THE HEADTEACHER at Bromsgrove School says this year’s A level and GCSE results are some of the best academic results in the school’s long history.
Three pupils gained perfect GCSE scores of 9 in every subject – a feat achieved by only 732 others in the country – and 45 per cent of all pupils achieved the top grades of 8/9.
A huge 64 per cent of pupils’ GCSE grades were 7, 8 or 9, making this year 11 group the most successful since GCSEs were introduced three decades ago.
Also breaking records were the school’s A level students, with 57 per cent achieving A*/A.
Overall 77 per cent of grades were A*/B, allowing the vast majority of graduates access to their chosen universities.
Headteacher Peter Clague said: “For a school that prides itself on a broad and balanced approach to education, purposefully avoiding becoming solely an academic hothouse, these are extremely encouraging results.”
Of the 75 BTEC entries at the school this year, pupils achieved 21 Distinction* and 42 Distinctions.
