MORE improvements are to be made to footpaths and cycle routes in Bromsgrove’s Sanders Park, as the second phase of the development project begins.

It focuses on the section between the tennis courts and St John’s school and should last for two weeks, beginning August 26.

Phase 3 will commence after the Bonfire event and once all phases are completed, they will see a bigger walking and cycling path through the wooded area near the wildlife park and the Millenium Wood, by the play area through the centre of the park.

The works are being carried out by Worcestershire County Council using Natural Productivity Investment funding from the Department for Transport to provide better walking and cycling access to Bromsgrove town centre.

The link through Sanders Park is one of nine links in the town, in total.

Bromsgrove District Council’s Portfolio-holder for Leisure, Coun Phil Thomas, said: “This is great news that our glorious park will be accessible to even more people.”

“The upgrades will help make some of the natural areas of the park accessible by wheelchair all year round, whatever the weather, for the first time.”
