MORE THAN 1,000 people attended Primrose Hospice’s Summer Fete on Saturday, helping to raise over £5,500 for the charity, writes Alice Green.

The fete, opened by BBC TV and radio presenter Joanne Malin, took place at the hospice on St Godwalds Road where guests were entertained with countless stalls, activities and food.

The entertainment on offer included performances from Merrymaker, Bromsgrove Rock School and Primrose Choir as well as solo singer Meg and routines by Stage Door Dance Academy.

Whether it be watching a magic show, attempting to win a prize such as a hot air balloon ride, or even learning about bees, there was something for everyone.

There was a poignant atmosphere when a short service of remembrance led by hospice chaplain Keith Judson took place in the courtyard.

Emma Williams, fund-raising manager, said it was a fantastic day, adding she hoped it left fete-goers with some happy memories, lots of prizes and purchases as well as a better idea of what happens at their local hospice.

The fund-raising team is now looking forward to its Corporate Challenge on July 1 and Puddle Party’s Orchard Fest On July 12 and 13.
