PICTURES have been released of the two men wanted in connection with ‘crash scams’ in Bromsgrove at 3.45pm last Monday.

We reported in last week’s paper about a pensioner hearing a large bang near the town’s Morrisons and two men chasing him down, claiming he had damaged their car.

They demanded he pay them £600 for scratches on their car and a broken wing mirror.

But when he checked his car there was not a mark on it. They accompanied him to the cash machine at Morrisons but it would only let him get out £500. And when they insisted he go to the bank, staff at Lloyds grew suspicious and the plot was foiled.

It has since emerged an hour before on the same day – around 2.40pm – a similar scam was carried out.

Another man in his 80s was followed back from Bromsgrove’s Aldi to his Lickey End home by the two men who this time demanded he pay more than £1,000.

As the discussions took place the man’s concerned neighbour’s son took this photograph of the fraudsters and it has been released in a bid to catch the culprits.

The pensioner refused to give them the amount they demanded but did give them all the cash he had in his wallet.

The car they were in was a black Audi A3 which had scratches down the passenger side and a damaged wing mirror.

Police said the pair were clearly targeting elderly drivers and have urged anyone who witnessed either of the incidents or anyone with any information as to who they are to call officers on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
