AN AMAZING £11,200 has been collected for Birmingham Women’s Hospital, thanks to staff at Bromsgrove’s AFH Group, who have climbed Mount Snowdon and undertaken several fund-raising activities, writes Gabija Alseikaite.

The efforts make the town firm the charity’s biggest corporate supporters of 2018.

Staff at AFH Group have contributed in a variety of activities to raise funds for the hospital.

As well as scaling the highest mountain in Wales, employees have also held bake sales, taken part in charity football matches and pub quizzes and held plenty of raffles.

Other events have included pumpkin carving, sponsored dieting, running 10k around Birmingham and a sweepstake on the royal baby.

Pamper hampers were kindly put together and included cosmetics and toiletries for the patients. Mugs were also provided for the hospitals transitional care ward.

Ben Gilchrist, senior supporter care officer at the hospital, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone at AFH Group who has taken part in fund-raising this year.”

He added it was an incredible total.

“The £11,200 they raised will go a long way in making a huge difference to the women, babies and families using our hospital, and we are incredibly grateful to them all.”

Lucy Somner from AFH’s charity committee, who climbed Snowdon and ran the Birmingham 10k, said: “We’ve had a really fun year raising money and supporting Birmingham Women’s Hospital. It’s been very busy, and lots of people have tried new things.

“Ben and the team at the hospital’s charity were great to work with, and we beat our £10,000 target and ate a lot of cake!”
