A BROMSGROVE woman joined thousands of other walkers to support anti-human trafficking charity, A21.
Heather Greenaway took part in Birmingham’s Walk for Freedom event which was held by the charity last month and raised more than £200.
“I was so pleased to be able to participate thanks to the help of my husband Robert,” said Heather, who uses a wheelchair full-time.
“I wanted to raise awareness for the charity because of the anti-slavery and anti-human trafficking work they do around the world.”
The one-mile walk started and finished in Birmingham Cathedral Square and was aimed at drawing attention to the shocking increase in slavery and trafficking practices in the UK.
Heather set up a fund-raising page for her friends, family and strangers to sponsor her.
She said: “I fund-raise because I know that my efforts can be the difference between slavery and freedom for many. And even though each of us can’t do everything, we can all do something.”
The non-profit organisation uses the money it receives to reduce vulnerability in refugee camps and to protect and care for its survivors.
Heather added: “I am really grateful for everyone and already can’t wait for the 2019 event.”
