THE ORGANISERS of Rubery in Bloom are celebrating after receiving a ‘level 5 – Outstanding’ rating for the fourth year in a row.
The highest grade possible was awarded by The Heart of England in Bloom judges last week.
At Rubery’s PACT (Partners and Communities Together) meeting on Monday, in Bloom committee chairman Lorna Ockendon said: “It has been an amazing year with every flower box looking splendid even though we’ve had a long hot summer.
“That is because everyone has regularly watered the boxes in their area.
“We were also delighted with the poppy patch in Legion Road which was at its best on Armed Forces Day in June.”
She praised and thanked everyone who had made the project a success, including the planters, waterers, carpenters, flower box refurbishers and street name sign washers.
She also thanked everyone who raised funds, from the bakers and event organisers to those who helped with raffles.
Next up for Rubery in Bloom will be the winter planting of flower boxes with pansies and daffodils. It will begin on October 19 so the flowers come into full bloom in the spring.
