Residents at Chandler Court head back to the 1940s in history-themed event

RESIDENTS at Chandler Court were transported back in time to their 1940s youth during a history-themed event.

Vintage jeeps, uniform-clad performers and a three-course ration book meal came to the care home, along with guests from Perry Manor in Worcester.

A performance by the jeep drivers and 40s tunes from The Poppy Sisters led to an afternoon of dancing and story-sharing by the residents and their guests.

Care UK’s Chandler Court team held the day as a tribute to the Battle of Britain and there was also a talk on wartime artifacts by Dennis Norton, owner of The Norton Collection Museum.

Chandler Court manager Joanne Gill said the event was a roaring success.

“The themed day was a great opportunity for residents to reminisce and talk about growing up in the 1940s, which can be therapeutic for older people, especially those living with dementia.”
