VISITORS to Avoncroft Museum this weekend can get an insight to what life was like during the war of the roses.

The event, featuring a joust and battle re-enactment of the 1459 battle for Bewdley Bridge, will run both tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday, September 23.

Families will be able to see the battles of the white and red roses, visit the medieval villages and take part in an archery competition.

Avoncroft’s director, Simon Carter said he was really pleased the venue was able to put on this popular event again this year.

“We’ve made some changes which will give our visitors an even better chance to see the realities of foot combat in battle and live jousting from this important era of British history.

“It’s a spectacular day out for the entire family from the fascinating demonstrations to the explosive finale.”

Gates open at 10.30am and the event runs until 5pm on both days.

Entry is the usual museum price of £11 for adults, £9.90 for seniors and £6.60 for children.
