MORE than 1,600 people have benefited from a countywide service designed to help combat loneliness.

It is estimated up to 35,000 people in Worcestershire suffer from loneliness or social isolation.

The Reconnections service matches people with activities and groups through a network of volunteers.

Since 2016, more than 1,600 over-50s have benefited from the service and in the last 12 months, 687 referrals have been made.

To refer a lonely older person or would like to volunteer with Reconnections call 01905 740954 or visit www.reconnectionsservice.org.uk
