BROMSGROVE Flower Club celebrated its diamond anniversary on August 16 by inviting guests to The Granary Hotel in Shenstone for drinks and an afternoon lunch.

The club’s committee decorated the hotel’s dining-room tables with exotic flowers to mark its 60th year.

After arriving, guests soon settled into a three-course lunch followed by coffee and a slice of lemon and elderflower cake.

Members were joined by florist Jane Pugh who used a selection of beautiful flowers from her own store to fill the stage with colourful arrangements, choosing chocolate as the theme for the display.

Her first arrangement was in ‘Cadbury purple’ and featured an array of colourful Smarties-inspired gerberas.

She also used the bright green of trailing amaranthus to represent the peppermint Aero, before revealing exotic foliage and glorious blue delphiniums based on the Bounty bar.

Bromsgrove Flower Club’s vice chairman Lorna Hill described the unique arrangement – which members had the chance to win in a raffle – as an ‘intriguing subject choice’.

“It was a fabulous afternoon and was enjoyed by everyone.

“It was a fitting way to celebrate 60 years success of Bromsgrove Flower Club.”

The group meets every third Thursday of the month at 2pm at All Saints Church Hall.
