RESIDENTS at a care home in Bromsgrove took a trip to the ‘circus’ in Stratford-upon-Avon recently.
Chandler Court Care Home, on Recreation Road, visited Ambleside Care Home, on Evesham Road, alongside 10 other Care UK homes and the local community for a regional circus-themed event.
Residents across the Midlands chose the theme of the event, inviting the local community to enjoy a day at its very own circus to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of the circus.
Guests were treated to a magical day – stilt walkers, acrobats and jugglers entertained the crowd, while residents and visitors had the opportunity to master their balloon modelling and circus skills at a workshop.
Guests arrived in their best fancy dress, with prizes given out for ‘best costume’.
Residents from the care homes were encouraged to makeover their circus tents with balloons, bunting and circus props.
Shetland ponies trotted by to join in the fun, with residents and the local community able to meet and feed them at the petting area.
Jo Gill, home manager at Care UK’s Chandler Court, said “We were delighted to be invited by Ambleside to join their circus event.
“Meaningful lifestyles is at the heart of Care UK’s ethos and the residents were thrilled to take part in such an exciting event.
“The day was the perfect opportunity for the residents to meet people from the Stratford-upon-Avon community, as well as residents from other homes – many new friendships were made!”
