AVONCROFT were narrowly edged out by Bromsgrove Thirds in Worcestershire County League Division Three at the weekend.
Batting first, the Boars had laboured their way to 79-6 but some big hitting by Matt Anderson (56) and Freddie Fallows (40) as well as 64 propelled the hosts to 212-9 from their allotted 50 overs.
Jonathan Hunter (3-31) was pick of the bowlers for Croft who fell just short on 203 all out in their reply.
Mark Whitehead (42) top scored for Croft who entertain Five Ways Old Edwardians on Saturday.
