Plenty more music, drama and talks in week four of the Bromsgrove Festival

BROMSGROVE Festival is continuing and the fourth week has a variety of events in store, writes Shannon Alcock.

• Oddsocks’ open-air performance of Romeo and Juliet, at Avoncroft Museum, starts at 6.30pm on July 8. Tickets, in advance, are £16 for adults, £9 for under 16’s, £13 for concessions and £37 for a family ticket. On the day, the family ticket is £45 and the rest are £2 more than pre-booked price. • James Yarker, the director of Stan’s Cafe Theatre Company, will talk about the organisation at 7.30pm on Sunday, July 8, at Artrix. It is the latest event from Bromsgrove Words and tickets are £15 for adults and £7.50 for students. Available from artrix.co.uk or by calling 01527 577330.

• North Bromsgrove High School will hold its Schools Music Day at Artrix at 7pm on Monday, July 9. The event will showcase the musical talents of the district’s youngsters. Tickets are £7.50 (£5.50 concessions). Available from artrix.co.uk or by calling 01527 577330.




• Worcestershire’s Dancefest will put on Accelerate at 7pm on Tuesday, July 10, at Artrix. It is an evening of work created by talented dancers from West Midlands dance organisations. • The Orchestra of St John’s will perform the music of ‘Beethoven and Mozart’ at Avoncroft Museum’s Guesten Hall on Wednesday, July 11. The latest ‘Festive Classic’ features music at noon and lunch at 1pm. Tickets are £18 for the concert and lunch and wine or £8.50 for just the concert. Lunch tickets need to be booked in advance by calling 01527 874136.


• The Bromsgrove Bluegrass Bash takes place at the Park Gate Inn from next Friday to Sunday, July 13 to 15. The music is free for pub visitors. Camping is £5 per person per day or £15 for the whole weekend. Email [email protected] to book and search for ‘Bromsgrove Bluegrass Bash’ on Facebook for more information.

• Dean Friedman will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of his ‘Well Well, said the Rocking Chair’ album at 8pm next Friday, July 13, at Artrix. He will perform the whole album live. Tickets, at £25, are available from artrix.co.uk or by calling 01527 577330.
