THE ANNUAL charity golf day for Libby Mae’s Little Angels has raised a staggering £5,446 for neonatal units at maternity wards throughout the Midlands.

The charity’s founders Charlotte and Rich Sharratt organised the event at The Forest of Arden Golf and Country Club on May 31, and 16 teams took part.

The day was sponsored by FUN Motor Group and the golfers were joined by local ex-Premier League footballer Craig Fagan who is an ambassador of the charity. Competitions including Beat the Pro, Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive were also greatly successful fund-raisers.

Although thunderstorms were forecast, the sun shone brightly on the golfers for the whole day.

Libby’s mum Charlotte said: “I had a word with my angel up above and ordered sunshine.”

Then at the end of the day, Libby’s family members released pink balloons into the sky and immediately afterwards it started to rain.

The charity ambassadors and Charlotte and Rich, said they could not believe how amazing the weather had been throughout the event.

Future fund-raisers will include the black tie ‘Circus Ball’ being held at the Burlington Hotel, Birmingham, in October where the Dancing on Ice winner Jake Quickenden will perform.
