BROMSGROVE MP Sajid Javid unveiled a new defibrillator at Finstall Village Hall on May 18.
Residents chatted to Mr Javid before he stepped outside to cut the ribbon and announce it officially open for public use.
Mr Javid said: “There are many defibrillators in Bromsgrove but it’s important to keep opening more so that people feel safe.
“I’ve been shown how to use it today by Rob Underwood from the Charlotte and Craig Saving Hearts Foundation.”
“I’m so pleased to now have one in Finstall Village as it could be the difference between life and death.”
Rosemarie Ryan, chairman of Finstall Village Hall management, thanked everyone who donated to make the installation possible.
“The outside contributors have been fantastic.
“We’ve received donations from HSBC, local people throughout the area and other businesses who want to remain anonymous.”
Neil Beetlestone, HSBC’s head of the central region, said: “This is a great example of ways we can make a difference.
Rob Underwood, from the Charlotte and Craig Saving Hearts Foundation, urged anyone wanting help obtaining a defibrillator for their area to get in touch.
“People need to realise the dangers of cardiac arrest. Fitting this today might save someone’s life in the future.”
