THE WOMEN’S Hockey World Cup trophy will be on display in Bromsgrove tomorrow at an event aimed at encouraging more people to become involved in the game.
Girls and boys aged between eight and 11 from schools including Aston Fields Middle, Haybridge, Blakedown and Clent, will be split into groups and given an introduction to ‘ball and stick’ and play smaller matches.
Representatives from governing body England Hockey, will be present along with the trophy.
This year’s Women’s Hockey World Cup takes place in London in the summer.
Head development coach at Bromsgrove Hockey Club Alan Gormley, who is overseeing the event with community coach Ben Bevins, said: “We are really excited to be hosting a World Cup Hockey event and to give these children the chance to see the actual trophy.
“We are extremely grateful to England Hockey for providing this opportunity.”
The public are invited to attend the free event, being held on the astroturf pitch at Bromsgrove Hockey Club, St Godwalds Road, from 9.30am to 11.30am on Tuesday, May 22.
