ALMOST £1,100 was raised for the Primrose Hospice following the charity rugby match which saw West Mercia Police go head-to-head with Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service.
The toughly contested encounter finished 7-7 at Bromsgrove RFC where the game was held and the event was also supported by Wasps Rugby.
Sgt David King said: “There was a really good atmosphere and it was such a tough game.
“We have had a lot of positive comments about the event.”
Prior to the kick-off the crowd were roused by the West Mercia Police Force Band.
This was the first of a number of events in aid of the hospice – Sam Webster will run the London Marathon later this month and the firefighters will carry out a charity car wash for the cause.
