Man in his 80s suffers 'life-threatening' injuries in Bromsgrove crash

A MAN in his 80s is in hospital in an extremely serious condition after a crash in Bromsgrove last night involving a car and a lorry.

The incident happened on the A491 Sandy Lane at 10.15pm when a black Vauxhall Astra, travelling from Junction 4 of the M5 collided with a Scania P410 HGV collided with one another.

The driver of the Astra suffered ‘life-threatening’ injuries.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor were sent to the scene.




The man was taken to the Major Trauma Centre at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital with the MERIT doctor travelling with him in the ambulance.

A second man, who was in his 50s and travelling in the back of the Astra, was taken to the QE with seatbelt related injuries as a precaution but later discharged.


The driver of the HGV was uninjured.

A West Mercia Police are investigating the incident and have urged anyone who witnessed it or anyone with any information to call officer on 101.

The force also wants to speak to anyone who saw the vehicles and the way they were being driven prior to the crash.
