CATSHILL runner Russell Cross will be lining up for the London Marathon on Sunday, despite having an injured ankle to contend with, writes Catherine Reston.

Russell has been training again for the past two weeks for the race which he is running for the Matt Hampson Foundation.

“I was pleased I hadn’t broken it, but gutted to find out I had damaged the tendons and ligaments in my ankle.”

The charity offers support and relief to those who have sustained any life-changing injury.

“I struggled when I couldn’t run, mentally and physically, and so to be in a situation that would be many times worse, how could I not raise money for that charity?”
