BROMSGROVE Mixed C avoided the drop from Herefordshire and Worcestershire Division Three East with a vital 4-0 victory over Kidderminster A.

Phil Boardman with Linda Casey and Max Feltham with Di Inchley pulled out the stops to win both rubbers in two sets in a must-win match which consigned Kidderminster to relegation.

Captain John Casey said: “To hold on to our place in such a high division where we’re playing mainly opposition A teams is a great credit to the squad.”

The Mixed B team finished a place higher after a good 3-1 win over David Lloyd Dudley A.

Joan McGregor with Tim Roland opened up with a straightforward win and then had a tight three-set victory over the new David Lloyd pair to ensure victory.

Jeth Tomlinson with Beccy Smith had a tough opener but bounced back to win their second rubber in two sets.

The Men’s G team lost to unbeaten Division 11 East leaders Worcester H.

With little to play for captain Martin German decided to give some new players match experience before the summer and brought in Rich Hope and Brian Taylor for the first time.

Not surprisingly they went down 4-0 to finish the season in mid-table.

Elsewhere, it was bad news for the Men’s D team who were relegated from Division Seven East after losing to Stourbridge E.
