THE LAST three places in this year’s Search for a Star final at the Austin Sports and Social Club have been decided.
Two guitar-playing singer-songwriters – Sean Duggan from Weoley Castle and Lucy Shaw from Bromsgrove – went through in one of the closest semi-finals ever.
Sean performed two of his own songs, Ruby and Sweet Melody, along with a medley of Coldplay’s Yellow, The A Team and Stand By Me.
Lucy took to the stage with her own songs, including Fall In Love With the World, Inside Your Head, Wingman and Friday Night Waitress Girl. She also performed a cover of Ralph McTell’s Streets of London.
And another Bromsgrove artist, violinist Pete Hartley also booked his place. He impressed the crowd and judges with songs, including Brazillian Love Affair and Zorba the Greek.
Sean said: “I’m going to continue doing what I’m doing – my own material with a couple of covers.”
Lucy paid tribute to the competition.
“I thought there was some amazing talent on display tonight. It is a great experience.”
The final ten-strong line-up is now complete and they will all go head to head in a fortnight’s time – on Saturday, April 7.
