ARTISTS and young people across Rubery are being invited to collaborate on a project to install an art piece at the A38 flyover.
St Chad’s Church has been awarded £4,539 from Community First’s Youth Social Action Fund to enable young people to work with an artist to create a piece such as a projection, sound piece or a performance.
It is hoped the work, which will explore the borders and boundaries in their community, will be performed or temporarily installed under the A38 flyover in June.
Rev Claire Turner said: “There are all sorts of borders and boundaries running through Rubery – some parts are divided by roads, others by history.
“We are really interested in how young people experience these things and are excited to be able to offer them the opportunity to choose an artist to work with.”
Young people wanting to take part should come along to the Rubery Youth Club which meets every Monday evening at St Chad’s Church.
Run by YMCA youth workers, those in years six or seven meet from 5.30pm and those in year eight and above meet from 7.30pm.
Sessions are £1 and all are welcome.
