GROUPS are being set up across Bromsgrove district in a bid to help people with chronic joint pain and arthritis, writes Tom Banner.
It follows Bromsgrove District Council’s sports development team securing Sport England funding to set up four new groups aimed at tackling chronic joint pain and arthritis.
They are being run in partnership with ESCAPE-pain, a rehabilitation programme for people with chronic joint pain which combines educational self-management with a progressive exercise programme to help people better understand their condition and cope with their pain better.
Hayley Gwilliam, health intervention officer, said: “Living with pain can be really debilitating and sometimes costly.
“This new programme aims to help people help themselves, making their lives more comfortable and reducing the cost of healthcare both personally and at NHS level.
“If you think you might benefit from the courses, please get in touch.”
The groups will meet at community venues across the district so they can be accessed by as many people as possible.
