Young people urged to be part of Bromsgrove's arts future with Artrix volunteers' scheme

BROMSGROVE’S Artrix is inviting young people to apply for a new volunteer scheme which will help shape their future in the arts community.

The Young Volunteers Scheme, starting in April, offers 16 to 25-year-olds, the chance to take part in a range of arts-based work experience in a variety of roles including technical and stage management, catering, box office, ushering and more.

The scheme will see the participants form a steering group, meeting monthly to help inform and improve the way in which Artrix engages with local young people and supports young artists and creatives.

The group will also organise and produce an event aimed at young people, using skills they’ve gained whilst on the scheme.

Artrix duty manager and volunteer co-ordinator Sarah Benfield said: “As well as providing insight and work experience, we also hope to create a community of young people dedicated to shaping how Artrix interacts with, involves, and supports young people in Bromsgrove.

“We hope that Artrix Young Volunteers will have an enjoyable and rewarding experience and will be proud to represent Artrix.”

Young Volunteers will work with Artrix staff and have opportunities to attend monthly reviews and staff tutorials to help them progress confidently and reach individual targets and aspirations.

Applications are now open and potential applicants must be able to commit to a minimum of four shifts per month.

For further information or to register interest in getting involved please contact Sarah Benfield at [email protected] or call the Box Office on 01527 577330.
