POPULAR Rubery Safer Neighbourhood Officer PC Tim Burling will retire today after 28 years working for West Mercia Police.
During his time on the force, the advanced driver has served in Bromsgrove, Redditch and Kidderminster, as well as the village.
In June 2005 PC Burling was posted to the Local Policing Team at Rubery Police Station and in February 2012 he became the Local Policing Officer for Rubery and then Local Policing Officer for Rubery and Hagley in 2012. He said his final role was his favourite of everything he had done in his career.
On February 16 a presentation was held in the village’s St Chad’s Church so residents, traders and representatives of the Neighbourhood Watch, Rubery PACT (Partners and Communities Together) and Rubery In Bloom could say a big thank you to him.
As well as the community’s thanks, he also received a clock and a Black Forest gateau made by Susan O’Leary from Polly Put the Kettle On which is based on the village’s New Road.
