Churches across Bromsgrove and Redditch to come together to promote dementia awareness

CHURCHES across Bromsgrove and Redditch are coming together to promote dementia awareness across the communities they serve.

‘Dementia Friends’ training, accredited by the Alzhemier’s Society, is being run on Tuesday, February 27, at The Lodge, Burcot Grange, near Blackwell.

The home is a brand new dedicated dementia care home for residents and communities served by the Wychebook Group of Churches and churches across areas including Feckenham, Bradley Green, Stoke Prior and Wychbold.

Rev Gary Crellin, from the Wychebrook Group of churches which is supporting this venture, said: “Having worked previously in the NHS and developed services for people with a dementia, I am aware of how anxious people are of the mere mention of the D word.

“One way to tackle this is to be informed and supported.

“That’s what these sessions plan to do.

“They are open to all in our communities, not those that bother to come to church.

“Please come and learn more.”

The sessions take place between 2pm and 4pm and from 7pm to 9pm.
