THE Andy Murrays and Johanna Kontas of the future could soon come from Bromsgrove after plans were revealed for new tennis coaching at Sanders Park, starting this Saturday.
Rackets are provided and no membership is needed at Bromsgrove District Council’s new ‘turn up and play’ classes led by accredited coaches from Bromsgrove Tennis Club.
The sessions, in the tennis courts by the café, start at 11.30am for juniors and 12.30pm for adults.
Each session is £4.50 per person and can be registered for online at www.bromsgrove.gov.uk/tennis
Lucy Walton, club and coach development officer on Bromsgrove District Council’s sports development team, said: “The junior sessions are ideal for young players looking to get into playing tennis and learn some new skills.
“The hour long sessions will teach players forehands and backhands, volleys, serves, and much more in a fun and friendly way.
“The adult sessions incorporate Tennis Xpress, a new programme for adult beginner tennis players who want to learn the basics of the sport, get active, and meet other players.”
