BROMSGROVE MP Sajid Javid paid up-and-coming town firm AFH a visit on Friday.
Mr Javid, who is also the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, was given a tour of the company’s Buntsford Drive base where he met around 15 employees and spoke to them about their work and how AFH had grown.
Many of those he spoke to were younger staff members and he asked them about commuting and particularly about housing costs, given his ministerial brief.
He also officially turned on the company’s new illuminated sign.
AFH chairman John Wheatley said the firm was delighted to welcome the MP.
“AFH is a true Bromsgrove success story, having grown from seven people in a small office off the High Street to 300 people in the town and another 165 across the UK.
“We look forward to celebrating further successes with Sajid and other local MPs.”
AFH’s diary manager Raj Chauhan added: “It was great to meet Sajid and tell him about what we do.
“He also told us something of what he does as our constituency MP and a Government minister.
“I’d certainly like him to come back and meet more of us.”
Mr Javid said it was a pleasure to visit AFH and echoed the comments of Mr Wheatly, adding the way it had increased its staff numbers locally making it a ‘real Bromsgrove success story’.
“With business growth at the heart of the Government’s agenda, businesses like AFH are the backbone of the British economy and I want to see more of them growing and creating jobs in Bromsgrove, and across the country as a whole.”
AFH was founded in Bromsgrove by chartered financial planner Alan Hudson in 1990 and in November was named as one of the ‘most dynamic small and medium enterprises (SMEs)’ by the London Stock Exchange. Since 2014 it has also been listed on London Stock Exchange’s AIM.
Last year was a great one for the company which saw its profits rise 83 per cent to £3.1million.
Revenue in 2017 was up 39 per cent to £33.6million, along with earnings per share and dividends per share.
