MORE than 115 miles of roads have been improved as part of Worcestershire County Council’s Driving Home programme.

The works, which include repairing and resurfacing roads, have directly benefited more than 12,000 homes and 27,000 residents in all six districts of the county.

Launched in April 2016, the £12million Driving Home scheme will see up to 150 miles of roads improved by April this year.

Coun Alan Amos, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Highways, said: “Residents have told us which roads matter to them the most and we’ve listened.

“We’ve carried out improvements on over 115 miles of roads which is making a massive difference to people all across the county.

“Worcestershire has some of the best roads in the country and Driving Home is making them even better.”

An extra £6million is being invested to improve Worcestershire’s pavements and the county council is on track to improve more than 70 stretches of pavements across the county by April 2018.
