BROMSGROVE Sporting have struck a deal with fellow Midland League Premier Division title rivals Sporting Khalsa to bring Liam Holt to the Victoria Ground.

The left-footed central midfielder is seen as the ideal replacement for the injured Liam Spink who is out for the season after breaking his leg in the Birmingham Senior Cup tie against Nuneaton Town last month.

The 26-year-old had previously been on the books at Rugby Town, Chasetown, Lichfield City, Rocester, Romulus and Gresley.

“Liam is the best midfielder I have seen play against us this year,” said Sporting boss Smith.

“He was tremendous at our place in the 1-1 draw in the league and was equally as tremendous in the FA Vase game afterwards.

“Liam has a great engine, an eye for goal and will compliment what we have already got perfectly, especially as Spinky is out for the foreseeable future.”

Holt follows in the footsteps of Stourbridge stalwart Drew Canavan and striker Richard Gregory who has recently agreed to play full-time for Sporting rather than on a dual registration.
