BROMSGROVE’S Artrix has been awarded almost £10k in funding to go towards helping young people living with mental health issues.

The popular arts centre, on Slideslow Drive, has received a grant of £9,820 from the Big Lottery Fund for its ‘Hyped Youth Mental Health Project’.

The funding will provide workshops and a festival for young people living with mental health issues aimed at helping them address anxiety, depression, eating disorders and bullying.

Director of Artrix, Hannah Phillips said: “This is excellent news, this Big Lottery award will enable us to run an arts festival for local children following workshops in schools, increasing accessibility to the arts centre for young performers whilst exploring some very important issues.

“This will really make a difference to the arts work we are doing around issues of mental health with young people and children both in schools and at the venue.”

Artrix is one of 277 community projects across the region to receive a share of £5.1m in National Lottery Funding.
