A REDNAL brain injury charity is celebrating after receiving a £3,000 donation from a special charity ball.
The event, held at Hogarths Stone Manor, near Chaddesley Corbett, was organised by Midlands company Lord Combustion Services to raise funds for both Headway Birmingham and Solihull, based in Rednal, and Wolverhampton’s Old Tree Nursery.
With a charity raffle and auction of prizes donated by businesses and sports venues across the Midlands region, £5,200 was raised on the night and Lord Combustion then rounded up this amount to donate £3,000 to each of its chosen charities.
Julie Wedgbury, Headway’s fund-raising manager, said: “The charity ball was superbly organised with great food, a live band and loads of different prizes to tempt people to dig deep to buy raffle tickets or bid in the auction.
“We can’t thank Lords enough for choosing to support Headway Birmingham and Solihull in this way.
“We’d also like to pass on our thanks to everyone who was so generous on the night of the ball and to all those who donated items in advance for the raffle or auction.”
Stuart Smith, MD at Lord Combustion Services, thanked the companies involved.
He said: “This was the first time we’ve organised a charity ball.
“It took many months of planning but the hard work paid off with a significant amount raised for two very worthwhile charities and a good time had by all. “We’ve had great feedback from everyone and so we’d certainly look at doing another in the future.”
