BARNT GREEN residents put on a spooktacular display to raise funds for the Basement Project on Halloween, writes Arun Mohammed.

Organisers James and Kat Crockford, along with sons Josh and Joe, got into the spirit of the day and put together a Halloween friendly trail of different spooky destinations involving over 50 houses on Margesson Drive.

Over 200 children and their parents turned out for the trick or treat event, raising £300 for the charity, which provides a drop-in centre for homeless young people and those in danger of becoming homeless.

James and Kat said they were overwhelmed with the generosity of the local people and are hoping to repeat the event next year.

Parents who took their children added they thoroughly enjoyed the event.

Erin Edwards said: “Everyone had a blast and it was great to see everyone getting into the spirit of the event.”

Jenny Elvins said it was a brilliant night, adding she hoped to attend again next year.
