AN IMPRESSIVE £9,700 was raised by the Rotary Club of North Worcestershire at its 17th annual charity golf day.
An enthusiastic 60 golfers took to the prestigious course at Blackwell Golf Club on August 31 which began beautifully clear but was then subjected to a heavy rain shower at midday.
The organisers said, thankfully, it was the only rain of the day and freshened up the course.
After the golf, all the players and Rotarians enjoyed a well-earned dinner.
Rotary President Derek Radcliffe welcomed and thanked everyone who attended and had made the day a huge success, adding special praise from the generous 64 sponsors.
He also spoke about the charities which would benefit, including the Young Carers, Sight Concern, Rigby Hall School and Spectrum Days.
A raffle and auction followed the dinner, raising £1,345 towards the final £9,700 total.
The President presented prizes to the winners of the main event Matthew Quigley and Jon Whitehead.
Next year’s charity event is planned for August 23, 2018.
