A BROMSGROVE teenager organised a charity ball, raising £2,350 to raise funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital (BCH) to say thank you for a decade’s worth of help it gave her with her hearing.

Since the age of three Paige Ayers, who lives in Sidemoor and attends North Bromsgrove High School. has visited BCH for treatment. After being discharged at the age of 14, she felt it was right to give something back.

She, with the help of her mum, organised the ball which took place at Bromsgrove Rugby Club last month.

The funds were raised from ticket donations and raffle tickets bought on the night which was attended by more than 150 people.

It featured a disco by Dave Troth and Ian Godwin and a pig roast by Street Food which was sponsored by Aaron Kernaghan at Ecl-ips Monitoring Services.

Paige organised the raffle and prizes were kindly donated by Banners, Jenna Poyner Beauty, Hayley Warren, Hogarth’s Stone Manor, Upper Cutz hair design, Morrisons, Boots Bromsgrove, Webbs of Wychbold, The Abbey Hotel Golf Club Redditch, Dudley Zoo and West Midlands Safari Park.

Morgan Motor Company donated an overnight hire of one of its cars which raised £201 in a silent auction as well.

Paige told The Standard she would also like to thank Melanie Halstead from NWBL, John Clapham IFA and Vikki Strong for sponsoring parts of the evening and helping organise it.

Magician Wayne Humphries also made a guest appearance on the night and wowed everyone with his amazing tricks.

Paige, who is now 15, said: “My initial aim was to raise £1,000 but with the help of everyone who supported the event and attended on the night I was able to give Birmingham Children’s Hospital the cheque for £2,350.

“I’m so happy with the result.”
