A good knight in store as jousting comes to Bromsgrove's Avoncroft Museum

Tristan Harris 19th Sep, 2017   0

VISITORS to Avoncroft Museum next weekend will be in for a good knight at the annual medieval jousting tournament.

Next Saturday and Sunday, September 23 and 24, skilled re-enactors will demonstrate horseback skills, weapons drills and there will be activities for younger visitors, all centred around the living history camps.

The highlight will be the ‘tilting’ contest where courageous riders and their highly trained horses go head-to head in the one-to-one combat to test their honour and win over the crowd.

Between bouts, visitors can visit the tented medieval village to talk to the knights, ladies, and squires and meet the horses.

Younger visitors can take part in the children’s drills and see the knights practise their skill at arms drills.

Gates open at 10.30am and the museum closes at 5pm.

Admission is £11 for adults, £9 for seniors and £6.60 for children.

Some activities may incur an additional charge.
