Bromsgrove care home staff and residents transform garden as part of competition

STAFF and residents from a Bromsgrove care home have been working together to transform their garden as part of a special competition.

Organised by care home owners, Somerset Redstone Trust, St John’s Court took part in the competition which saw the front terrace decorated to look more colourful and inviting.

Residents and their families joined staff and students to sand down benches and seats, painting the terrace and putting up hanging baskets full of flowers.

To finish off, a volunteer at St John’s made a personalised, wooden market barrow which was adorned with herbs and flowers.

The judging of the competition took place on August 22 with the Director of Operations and a Trustee who carefully inspected the hard work which had taken place.

The care home came second and were awarded £100 in garden vouchers.

Manager Laura Wilkes said: “All of this could not have happened without the support of everyone.

“I would like to thank the activity team Heather, Ffion and Doreen together with all of the ladies and gentlemen, family members Anne Green, Diane Williams and Chris Griffin who have supported us in making a difference.”
