BUS enthusiasts and families alike had plenty of fun at the Wythall Transport Museum over the bank holiday weekend.

On Sunday and Monday visitors basked in the warm summer sunshine and had more than 40 vintage bus rides to choose from.

They also got to check out the venue’s extensive collection of around 100 classic buses, coaches, milk floats and bread vans and the popular 1949 Wolverhampton trolleybus which is powered by electricity through overhead wires.

And there were miniature train rides and the Kids Kabin area to ensure everyone of all ages left with smiles on their faces.

The museum’s chairman Dave Taylor told The Standard: “Sunshine on a bank holiday, what a refreshing change.

“The museum is putting Wythall on the map nationwide as many enthusiasts travel considerable distances to join us on these event days.

“We’re privileged some of them bring their valuable vehicles with them to give rides to the visiting public. It means every event has something different to offer.”

In October at the museum there will be the last two major events of the year before it closes for the winter.

On October 8 there will be the Autumn Running Day and on October 28 is its Twilight event with buses running with their lights on into the early evening.

“Fingers crossed that the sunshine holds out,” added Mr Taylor.
