BROMSGROVE Lions are appealing for a green-fingered person to help out with the garden the club looks after at the Princess of Wales Community Hospital.
The garden is in a quadrant and has a lot of raised beds which makes it more easily accessible.
The area is much appreciated by the patients and their families and friends as it provides somewhere nice and quiet to spend time. Some of the patients who use it are receiving palliative care.
Bromsgrove Lions President Alan James said: “We are really looking for that one person with gardening expertise.
“Ideally such a person could now be living in a home with a very small garden, or a flat without a garden but who has enjoyed gardening for many years in the past and who now perhaps has some time to help us to keep the garden flourishing.”
He added there was a full watering rota undertaken by members and Bromsgrove Lions Club supplied the plants every year.
“It is the actual gardening skills we need,” he added.
Bromsgrove Lions Club is also looking for new members.
Alan told The Standard: “It is very difficult to get people to join something that takes time away from their work and family commitments.
“As a club Bromsgrove is very successful within the community and at the moment we are supplying defibrillators to schools.”
Anyone who can help keep the Princess of Wales Community Hospital garden flourishing throughout the year or anyone wanting to find out more about joining the Bromsgrove Lions should call Alan James on 07771 968158 or Lion Keith Godwin on 01527 578768 to speak to them or leave a message.
