A BROMSGROVE garden has been shortlisted out of 2,000 entrants in a national garden competition, writes Ramla Soni.

Owned and created by Alan and Lynn Nokes, Round Hill Garden in Braces Lane, Marlbrook, reached the final 12 of the competition organised by the Daily Mail which recognises the best small gardens around the country.

The criteria of the competition was that the garden owners should have designed, principally built and maintained the garden themselves.

Alan said:“We decided to enter and sent in some photographs of our garden.

“We were astounded but delighted when we heard that we were on the shortlist, especially when over 2,000 gardens had been entered and considered.”

The judges, representing the Daily Mail, viewed the garden along with the other 11 shortlisted gardens to decide on the final four.

Lynn added: “We were nervous when the judges arrived but they were very complimentary about the design and many aspects of the garden and although we didn’t make the final four, we feel it was an honour to have reached the final 12.”

Round Hill Garden opens twice a year for the National Garden Scheme (NGS) which raises funds for charities such as MacMillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, Hospice UK and Parkinson’s.

Round Hill Garden opens for the NGS with Oak Tree House, and together they make up “Marlbrook Gardens”.
