BROMSGROVE Beer  and Cider Festival raised £1,800 for its chosen charity Parkinson’s UK after the three-day event.

Almost 3,000 people went along between last Thursday to Saturday and, during that time, some 6,000 pints of ale and thousands of cider and perry were consumed.

Ambridge’s locally-brewed Oatmeal Stout, featuring coffee, chocolate and vanilla flavours, the first to sell out. Next was the ten per cent Kinver Full Centurion.

The event was organised by the Redditch and Bromsgrove CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) branch and took place at Bromsgrove Rugby Club.

A new 68 CAMRA members were recruited in the three days.

Festival organiser David Wheeler said: “The volunteers have worked very hard to put it together.

“Without them all this would not be possible.”

He added the Bromsgrove Beer and Cider Festival had grown year-on-year and was now one of the best attended in the country.

Paul Richards, the RB CAMRA secretary, also thanked the hard-working volunteers and said: “The warm weather and the live entertainment made for a very enjoyable atmosphere.

“We’d like to thank everyone who attended this year’s event and we hope to see you again next year.

Diane Scrivens from Parkinson’s UK said she was very pleased the organisation had been chosen, adding it was a great way to highlight the cause.

“We have had some great conversations with people who have been affected by Parkinson’s.

“We have also had some very generous donations from local businesses.”
