A RECORD number of runners took part in this year’s Timberhonger 10k on Saturday, with a full capacity 650 athletes competing in the popular event along the hilly course, writes Ben Fox.
Large crowds flooded the finish line to cheer the runners home as part of Bromsgrove’s carnival weekend which saw Joe Smith win the men’s with a time of 33min and 7sec. Leonie Balter won the women’s, completing the course in 38min, 21sec.
In the Children’s Challenge, Nathan Sanders, ten, won the boys’ with 5min, 29sec and Lauren Kennard the girls’ in 5min 37sec.
The events raised £6,000 for local charities, including the Primrose Hospice, Libby Mae’s Little Angels, The Basement Project and the Midlands Air Ambulance.
Race director Mark Graham said it was fantastic to see so many people enjoying running and raising cash for great causes.
