BROMSGROVE’S first ever food festival which took place in the High Street on Sunday has been hailed a great success after thousands of people attended.

The extravaganza, organised by CJ’s Events Warwickshire, featured more than 30 stalls from local producers, along with hot food, children’s activities and live entertainment.

There was also special offers from local pubs and restaurants around the town and some ‘live cookery theatre’ from local chefs who showcased some of their dishes.

And there was a special photo booth ran by the Bromsgrove Society and Friends of St John’s Church.

Owen Prosser-Stock, from of CJ’s Events Warwickshire, said despite a drizzly start the inaugural event was a huge success.

“We’ve received lots of comments saying this is the busiest the town has ever been.

“It was lovely to see so many families enjoying the food, drink and music on offer.

“We will be having a de-brief to discuss the day as a whole and if confirmed to take place for a second year, we’ll schedule a date for 2018.

“We have some improvements we’d like to make such as additional seating and as soon as we have information on next year’s event this will be released.”

Beki Vallance from Beki’s Brownies said: “It’s fantastic for the first one.

“You never know how it’s going to go when you start something like this but I think it’s gone well.

“We have had quite a lot of people come to the stall.”

Coun Rita Dent, whose ward covers the town centre, told The Standard: “It was absolutely fantastic.

“The stall holders were really pleased with many saying people kept buying items and then going back for more.

“The live entertainment was great as well and with the Court Leet and Fair Day on the Saturday, it was a really enjoyable weekend all round.”

She added she hoped more events would be organised on Sundays in the town.
