Time to show off your talents at auditions for this year's panto

CHRISTMAS may be six months away but open auditions will be taking place in the coming weeks for this year’s family pantomime by the Jigsaw Players.

The try-outs for Jack and the Beanstalk will be held from 5.30pm to 9.30pm on June 30 for dancers and children and the youth and adult auditions will be between 1.30pm and 9.30pm on July 2.

All will be held at The Trinity Centre, formerly Lickey Parish Hall, Old Birmingham Road, and singers, dancers and actors are all being sought.

Participants should prepare a song of their choice to best demonstrate their vocal range and be prepared to read from the script and follow some basic dance steps. Dancers will also need to prepare a short routine.

Rehearsals and the panto performances will also take place at The Trinity Centre and the show runs from December 1 to 3 and between December 7 and 10 with matinees on the Saturdays and Sundays.

Rehearsals start on September 10 and are held every Sunday between 4pm and 6pm for children, between 6pm and 7.30pm for dancers and from 7.30pm to 9pm for youth performers and adults.

Principal characters will also be required either Tuesday or Thursday evenings.

The group’s director Maggie Bishton told The Standard: “Why not come along and join the Jigsaw Players for a fun-filled, all singing, all dancing pantomime?”
