Bromsgrove Round Table launches urgent appeal for members to safeguard its long-term future

AN URGENT appeal has been launched by Bromsgrove Round Table to find more members after numbers dropped to just four.

The club was launched over 50 years ago and at its height had more than 20 members.

But in the last couple of years the number of people signing up has dwindled and there are fears about the long-term future of the club.

As well as meeting up every other week in a variety of locations in and around the town, members can take part in a range of activities, from a beer and a curry to karting, clay pigeon shooting and paint-balling.

As well as the fun element, the group also raises funds for local charities and community organisations.

The Bromsgrove Round Table branch’s best-known fund-raiser is the annual Santa Sleigh which delights hundreds of families across the district and last year raised £6,356 for good causes, including the scouts.

The very laid back group is open to men aged between 18 and 45 and there is no obligation to attend everything. Most people who have been to Round Table choose what they do based on personal preference.

The group’s chairman Jack Slattery told The Standard: “It’s a chance to do events and activities you would not normally get to do by yourself.

“Not many people get to drive diggers or have personal tours around the Bentley and Harley Davidson factories and get to try out the cars and bikes there.

“It is about seizing new opportunities and enjoying some extra experiences in your free time, as well as giving something back to the community.”

Visit bromsgrove.roundtable.co.uk for more information on the group.

Those wanting to join can text ‘Join’ and their postcode to 60066, email [email protected] or call 0121 456 4567. New members get a free beer on their first night and membership is free to the under 25s for the first two years.
