BROMSGROVE’S All Saints’ Church has raised over £500 towards restoration the building by hosting a 1940s themed tea party, writes Cameron Hill.

Over 40 people turned up to dine using authentic utensils from the era, such as tea pots, tea strainers, a slop basin and sugar tongs.

Traditional sandwiches were served alongside scones, cakes and crisps with salt.

The event was organised by the parish with the goal of getting funding to repaint the church.

A church member said: “It was a wonderful occasion with much reminiscing by the older members present.

“The organisers had gone to tremendous trouble providing a display of 1940s household goods, a themed quiz and a magnificent raffle.

“Everything was as authentic as possible.

“And the result means All Saints’ will be able to have its lovely paint restored .”
