'Paws for Tea' event to raise funds for Bromsgrove's Blue Cross tomorrow (Saturday)

THERE will be three fund-raisers on one day at Bromsgrove’s Blue Cross tomorrow (Saturday) to help the centre continue its good work caring for local homeless cats and dogs.

From 10am to 3pm there will be the ‘Paws for Tea’ event where visitors to the centre in Wildmoor Lane, Catshill, will be able to enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of cake in return for a small donation.

Also tomorrow, dog owners will also be able to take a springtime stroll with their four-legged friends.

There are two routes on offer for the sponsored dog walk – a shorter mile-long walk (suitable for younger children and those with disabilities) or a longer walk stretching to 4.5 miles for those wanting more of a challenge.

Sponsorship forms can be collected from the centre or walkers can pay £5 on the day. All dogs taking part will receive a certificate, rosette and goodie bag.

And, also starting tomorrow, is the first in a series of car boot sales – that takes place from 9am to midday and the sales will continue every fortnight throughout the summer. Places cost £5 per car and £10 per van/ trailer.

Local pet-lovers are also being invited to host their own tea parties for needy pets at Blue Cross.

Neil Edwards, Bromsgrove Blue Cross’ centre manager, said: “Enjoying a slice of cake and a cup of tea has never been more rewarding.

“Blue Cross helps over 40,000 sick, injured and homeless pets every year, and its events like Paws for Tea that make it possible.

“Every penny raised really does help.

“Whether people come along to our tea party, or host one of their own, we hope lots of people will get involved with this year’s event.”
