MORE than 100 people flocked to Longbridge on the hottest day of the year to take part in a charity Easter Fun Run.
Organised by brain injury charity Headway Birmingham and Solihull, the event on Sunday (April 9) attracted its highest number of entrants yet.
Expected to raise about £1,200, the 100 entrants walked and ran the 5k route at Cofton Park, travelling from Bromsgrove, Birmingham, Redditch and Solihull to take part.
Donated chocolate eggs were awarded to Clive Rose, the first finisher in the men’s and to Zoe Tinnion, the first woman to cross the line.
Helen Barney, who took therapy dog Foofy out for her first 5k run, was awarded the prize for best Easter themed costume.
Julie Wedgbury, fund-raising manager at Headway Birmingham and Solihull, said: “There was a great atmosphere on Sunday, no doubt helped by the sunny weather.
“Cofton Park is hilly anyway but proved more of a challenge in the heat, especially for the local policing team from Longbridge who ran in full uniform.”
