A FORMER Celebrity Big Brother star took part in a charity golf day to raise funds for Bromsgrove charity Libby Mae’s Little Angels, a cause close to his heart.
Jamie O’Hara took part in the four-ball contest along with fellow footballers at Edgbaston Golf Club.
Libby Mae’s Little Angels raises thousands of pounds for neo-natal units at Midlands hospitals every year.
Jamie is a big supporter after his middle son Harry – who he had with ex-wife and model Danielle Lloyd – was born ten weeks prematurely weighing just over 4lbs.
Tiny Harry needed weeks of specialist care in Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Jamie has never forgotten the support his family had.
The former Tottenham midfielder joined former West Bromwich Albion player Rob Davies and ex-Queens Park Ranger’s defender Tom Williams for the 18 holes in the sunshine with all proceeds from the event and a gala dinner in the evening going to the charity.
O’Hara, who played for Wolves between 2011 and 2014 and has now signed for Billericay Town, said: “It is great to support a charity like Libby Mae’s Little Angels which does some amazing work for neo-natal units across the region.
“I will never forget the support we had for Harry when he was born and it is great to see the work the charity do in providing much needed equipment for these units.”
The event was the first time Libby Mae’s Little Angels has held a charity golf day.
The charity was formed in 2013 by Charlotte and Richard Sharratt following the loss of their daughter Libby Mae who passed away aged just two weeks following a brave battle.
Since then the couple have worked tirelessly to raise funds for units across the region, collecting more than £200,000 so far.
Charlotte told The Standard: “We’d like to thank Jamie and everyone involved in the golf day and for the funds raised which will go towards the care of sick babies across the region.”
The event was hosted in conjunction with international wifi access provider Global Connect, an app founded by Coventry-based entrepreneur Jordan Hurley..Global Connect are a major supporter of the charity.
Jordan met Richard and Charlotte at another event and now supports them through his new venture which allows people to stay connected to tens of millions of hot spots in more than 120 countries.
